Brian Towers

Brian Towers is getting a bit long in the tooth - the one he has left -
but can still get far too excited about art for his own good and is in
his studio most days in these lazy times of retirement. He was born in
the North of England by the beautiful (paintable) coastline of
Northumberland and has always stayed close to home where there is plenty
of inspiration for art.

He had been painting all his life as a non-professional, although as a
schoolteacher for 30 years he did use his skills and interest in
teaching technical and artistic design of craft objects. His subject
matter interests cover a wide group, including landscapes, portraits,
animals, cartooning and space scenes. The last one is a bit of light
relief and allows him to get his imagination to work creating his own
worlds and life-forms. Brian has also gained an excellent reputation for
his caricature cartoons. These are based on photographs and capture a
true likeness to the subject in an artistic and humourous setting.

He has tackled most mediums but used ,mainly watercolours, although now
he has taken a liking to fast-drying oils. His portraits are largely
done in pastels and his space work in acrylic allowing the use of an
airbrush. He has gained many prizes and can put letters after his name -
but he prefers to let his paintings speak for themselves. His pictures
sell well and can be found in many countries. If, with his art, he can
give pleasure to others, then he will consider that to be his greatest
achievement.
